Liverpool's squad had been looking well-placed after the arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai earlier this summer.

But shock moves by Saudi Pro League teams for Fabinho and Jordan Henderson has thrown Jurgen Klopp's plans into doubt. The Brazilian is closing in on a move to Al-Hilal, with Reds captain Henderson the subject of a mega-offer from rivals Al-Ettifaq.

How the Reds replace the duo if they do leave will be a major talking point for the rest of the summer, though they are already encountering difficulties. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Liverpool transfer news.

Fabinho dropped from training camp

Fabinho has been dropped from Liverpool's squad for their Germany training camp as he closes in on a move to Al-Hilal. The Saudi side have now submitted a £40million bid for the midfielder.

The decision to remove him was taken on Friday, according to The Athletic, with the Brazilian now set to fly out to the Middle East. He did not refuse to travel to Germany but is keen to move to Al-Hilal.

The absence of Fabinho from the training camp would appear to all but confirm Liverpool's belief that a deal will be agreed with the Saudis. The 29-year-old will now have a medical and come to a final agreement on personal terms.

Liverpool have long been looking for replacements for Fabinho, but their strategy will now have to be speeded up. They are already encountering problems with the search for fresh blood in midfield though.

Moises Caicedo had been floated as a possible option, having impressed for Brighton last season. But according to the Daily Mail, the midfielder is 'almost certain' to join Chelsea instead this summer.

The Reds have received a further blow, with the same report stating that Real Madrid star Aurelian Tchouameni looks to be 'unobtainable'. Romeo Lavia now looks to be Klopp's top target to replace Fabinho.

Henderson exit runs into problems

Jordan Henderson's hopes of joining Al-Ettifaq have been hit by a serious blow, with the Saudi side unwilling to stump up the cash to buy him. The Liverpool skipper has been offered a massive £700,000 per week wage by Ettifaq.

He has verbally agreed to sign that three-year contract, following Reds legend Steven Gerrard to the club. But according to The Athletic, there has been no agreement over a fee, with Liverpool putting a £20m valuation on Henderson's head.

The Saudi side though were hoping to get Henderson on a free transfer, something Liverpool are insisting will not happen. With the move stalling, the midfielder has travelled to Germany for the Reds training camp.
