Murder-suicide probe shooting school couple described as 'wonderful people'

A couple believed to have died in a murder-suicide have been described as 'wonderful people' by shocked locals.

The couple, named locally as Robert and Rose Jobson, reportedly ran the successful North Lincolnshire White Lodge Shooting School for 30 years before they they were found dead at the property

Humberside Police were called to the scene near Thornton Abbey at around 3.40pm following reports of a concern for safety. Police launched a murder investigation, are not seeking any suspects in relation to the double tragedy. The couple have also not been formally identified.

Locals in the quiet village said the couple had operated the shooting school for 30 years - with the incident leaving residents shocked.

A local said: "It has rocked the whole community. Everyone around here knows Rob and Rose. They are wonderful people and run a successful business.

“They’ve been here for more than 30 years and were experts in their field of clay pigeon shooting. We heard it was a murder suicide. It is tragic and we are all shocked and saddened", reports The Sun.

Senior investigating officer Chief Inspector Al Curtis said: "Inquiries are in the very early stages to establish the circumstances of the man and woman's death.

"A homicide investigation has commenced, and both deaths are being treated as suspicious at this time until we establish the facts.

"We can confirm we are not looking for any else in relation to this inquiry. A scene guard will be in place while we carry out our investigation, and residents will likely observe an increased policing presence in the area as we carry out all lines of inquiry.

He said next of kin of both victims have been notified and are being supported. "We would like to reassure local residents there is no risk to the wider public and that we will be conducting house-to-house visits to provide reassurance," Mr Curtis added.

"If anyone has any concerns, please speak to our officers." The Mirror has contacted Humberside Police for any further comments.
