David Beckham says signing Lionel Messi for Inter Miami is a dream come true.

Inter Miami 's official confirmation of Messi signifies the realisation of David Beckham's goal to cultivate top-tier soccer talent in the city. Messi's arrival is also the biggest arrival Major League Soccer has arguable ever seen.

"Ten years ago, when I started my journey to build a new team in Miami, I said that I dreamt of bringing the greatest players in the world to this amazing city. The World Cup winner will be available for selection with Inter Miami for their opening match of the Leagues Cup on July 21. The inaugural North American soccer tournament brings together MLS and LIGA MX as they temporarily pause their respective league seasons from July 21 to August 19, aiming to determine the three clubs that will qualify for the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup.

Following his announcement, Messi said: "I'm very excited to start this next step in my career with Inter Miami and in the United States. This is a fantastic opportunity and together we will continue to build this beautiful project.
