Delivery driver fumes at customer's 'outrageous' request as they drop off food

A delivery driver was left gobsmacked after his customer urged him to break the rules - so they could get a refund. They explained how they deliver food through DoorDash - and recently got a very cheeky request.

Taking to Reddit, they shared a screengrab of a conversation they had with a customer, adding: "Lol hell nah some people."

The customer asked: "Chris, can you do me a favour and not take a picture so I can tell DoorDash it didn't arrive so I can get my money back because I need that money back but I'm hungry."

Chris nailed his reply, just responding: "Uh no, I'm not losing my job for nobody, sorry."

One person replied: "I hope you reported this and it's an automatic free food plus pay."

Another commented: "It is kind of sad that people actually exist not understanding how businesses work, like the person who messaged the OP thinking that it would somehow mean that Doordash would just pay the bill and everybody lives happily ever after.

"It reminds me of people who promote stealing from businesses because "f*** the corporations" or "the CEO gets paid millions, they can afford it", when reality is it does not hurt the corporations or CEOs. All that corporations do in return is raise prices and/or cut expenses. It just comes back to hurt customers and employees."

Another wrote: "That is an example of someone who doesn’t understand that what they do effect the driver. As soon as they report it not delivered that’s a contract violation to the dasher and enough will get you deactivated.

"They think if they report it they get free food and nothing else happens to anyone."

One savvy delivery driver added: "I love honest folks. At least he gave you the heads up and asked you to go along with it instead of just reporting it not there and giving you a contract violation.

This is why I used a time stamp camera app. It won't stop the hardcore scammers, but it will definitely stop folks like this who are on the fence about it and too naive to know any better."
