New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson has opened up on adjusting to new tactics following the arrival of Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers was traded to the Jets from the Green Bay Packers just days before the 2023 NFL Draft in April. In doing so, the 39-year-old called time on an 18-year career in Wisconsin to make the switch to New York.
Wilson was drafted by the Jets with the 10th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and is getting ready for his second season in the league. His first year resulted in the 22-year-old amassing 1,103 receiving yards with 83 receptions and four touchdowns.
The second year as a Jet will see a great deal of change in terms of personnel for Wilson. As well as Rodgers, the team will have a new offensive coordinator in Nathaniel Hackett who arrived following his exit as Denver Broncos head coach towards the end of last season.
Now Wilson will have a new offensive coordinator and quarterback to work with, he’s opened up on how things are different during the organised team activities (OTAs) earlier this summer. However, the receiver has explained that despite the new personnel, the tactics have been similar.

“Lucky for me, it’s been super similar — they’re both a West Coast offense and have the same premises,” Wilson said on , when asked about learning a new system with the Jets.
“But with this new offense, there are a few nuances that you just got to be keen on when you’re a [skill] player in the offense, especially having someone like Aaron Rodgers as your quarterback.”
Wilson will also have several new teammates in the Jets locker room for the forthcoming season, including fellow receivers. Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb both made the switch from Green Bay to the Jets in the early weeks of the off-season, and Wilson says that he’s already enjoying working with the new additions.

The Jets players are currently enjoying a break before returning for pre-season at the end of the month. The Jets have recently been confirmed as the team that will be the subject of the 'Hard Knocks' documentary, with filming taking place over the course of their pre-season preparations.
Wilson and co will take part in the Hall of Fame game against the Cleveland Browns on August 4, before having three further pre-season games against the Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Giants.
