Kane's early impression of Postecoglou could prove decisive in Tottenham saga

Harry Kane has been impressed by Ange Postecoglou in the early stages of pre-season with the striker's future still unclear.

Tottenham recently appointed the Australian as boss having Antonio Conte towards the end of last season. Postecoglou has immediately inherited an unwanted situation with his talismanic striker very much linked with a move away .

Kane has less than a year remaining on his contract in north London and, with his trophy cabinet still empty, is considering a move elsewhere. Manchester United have been keen but German giants Bayern Munich are now the club most actively seeking his signature.

The striker has already been the subject of rejected bids with the Bavarians not prepared to give up on their chase. Tottenham are adamant that Kane, who scored 30 league goals last term, is not for sale and they remain hopeful he will sign a new deal, potentially worth £400,000-a-week.

Postecoglou is currently trying to prepare his squad for the new season with Kane onboard with his plans, according to football.london. The new Tottenham boss has already been able to bring in his new signings, notably James Maddison, who joined from Leicester.

There have been no showdown talks with Kane and the club's new manager as of yet. Daniel Levy too is holding firm and his reputation as a ruthless negotiator has already put off the likes of United, who want to avoid a summer-long transfer saga.

Kane previously signed a lengthy deal back in 2018, which tied him to the club for six years. He previously missed out on a move to Manchester City when they were pushing for him back in 2021.

Postecoglou has already said that he wants the club legend to be part of his plans going forward and is confident the feeling is mutual from Kane.

He said: "I don't think it's my role to sit down and treat people in a manner because of their circumstances. I'm really big on treating everyone the same, and Harry has already entrenched himself in the history of this football club. He's a very important part. He's one of the premier strikers in the world and I want him involved. My conversation with him will be about how we can make this club successful, and I've got no doubts that what he wants as well.

"I don't want that kind of conversation, what I want is to introduce myself to Harry and give him my vision of the football club. And get a sense from him on what he thinks the club needs to do to be successful and walk out on that training pitch and try and make it happen."
