Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Netflix docuseries has been brutally snubbed in the nominations for the Primetime Emmy Awards 2023.

With 25 leading categories within the realms of comedy, drama, and limited series, it's safe to say that the Emmys are sought after and coveted gongs to scoop up - but sadly Meghan and Harry have not made the cut.

Shows eligible for the Primetime Emmys must have been broadcast in America between June 1, 2022 and May 31, 2023. Meghan and Harry's docuseries, which is titled Meghan & Harry, dropped onto Netflix around the globe on December 8, 2022.

Last month it was reported that the couple's $20 million (£15.5m) Spotify deal came to an end and it was soon said their $98 million (£76.5m) Netflix deal was "hanging in the balance" - which likely left them taken aback, so this snub will probably leave them feeling a little somber.

But it's not all bad news for the couple, who today had their docuseries nominated for Best Streaming Nonfiction Series in the Hollywood Critics Awards (HCA).

Going head-to-head against Prehistoric Planet 2, Rainn Wilson, The 1619 Project and The Reluctant Traveller with Eugene Levy, among other big names - the couple, who stepped down as working members of the Royal Family in 2020 - could be close to victory.

This comes one day after we reported that a new article claims Meghan is being "needier than usual" towards Prince Harry at the moment.

Speaking to Heat Magazine, a source revealed that Prince Harry is feeling "so restless these days", which has left Meghan "nervous" and "needier than usual". The source added that Meghan is realising their careers are "on different paths" and has told Harry that they need to "remain united".

Elsewhere in the article, it was reported that Meghan is keeping Harry close, with the source continuing: "She's barely let Harry out of her sight recently, tagging along to as many of his appointments as he'll let her, and organising trips, date nights, meditation sessions and get-togethers that involves both of them."

They went on: "She doesn't want Harry to leave her side at the moment."

The 2023 Emmy Awards take place on Monday, September 18, starting at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. PT. The ceremony will air live on Fox.
