Willie Mullins’s champion jumper Chacun Pour Soi has walked straight into a new job after being retired from racing.

The Susannah Ricci-owned 11-year-old won six Grade 1 chases including three editions of the Dublin Chase at Leopardstown and the Champion Chase at Punchestown in 2021.

Cheltenham Festival success repeatedly eluded him with the Queen Mother Champion Chase becoming a holy grail.

He only made the places once in four trips to Britain, finishing third in the 2021 Champion Chase as the odds-on favourite and was last when odds-on for the Tingle Creek Chase the same year.

He was different class at home and in what proved to be his final start he gave stablemate Energumene a fright before going down by three quarters of a length at the Punchestown Festival in April.

Mullins has now confirmed that the nine-time winner who earned nearly £700,000 has run his last race.

“He’s been a tremendous servant to us over the years and it was a huge run from him at Punchestown in the spring,” he told .

“He was a really high class horse and we were delighted to have him in the yard.”

However Chacun Pour Soi will not be gone from the TV screens as he has been recruited by Katie Walsh as her mount when she conducts post-race interviews on horseback for RTE Racing.

They made their debut together at the Irish Derby meeting as a replacement for her previous mount, the grey Thousand Stars.
