'Selfish' neighbour saves parking spot with cones and plant pots causing issues

When you've got a nightmare neighbour who places cones and plant pots in front of their home to reserve a spot for them to park, it can cause issues for the rest of the street and become a nuisance to others who may want to park close by. A man has taken to his social media to complain about someone on his street who has been "selfish" with their parking as they've been reserving space in an unusual manner.

Taking to their @brothersmake account on TikTok, Matt and Jonny made it clear that they weren't happy with the person that lived near them, referring to them as "bad neighbours" and even saying that their parking was bad as well.

Over the top of the video they fumed: "Anyone else live near someone that thinks they can claim a public parking space as their own by using traffic cones and some twigs in pots?"

"Why do people do this?", they raged as part of the caption. The cones and plant pots could clearly be seen reserving a space on the road - but many people in the comments were not impressed by the neighbour's sneaky space-saving tactics.

"I'd just park there for the fun of it", someone joked, whilst another said: "They think just because they own the house they own the street too!"

However, someone asked: "Is there any parking for the houses in back? If not, and that space is in front of their house, law or not it would be polite to leave it for them", to which the men replied: "Sure, it would be polite. But it's downright rude to prevent others from parking there when they aren't."

"It's illegal to obstruct the highway", someone fumed, and someone else said: "Yeah, but I'd just move them, and I don't even own a car."

Under the Highways Act 1980 it is an offence to obstruct the highway without permission from the local highway authority.
