Ideal for Diablo 4 players who want to play it sneakily, either when up close or from afar, the Rogue is a character class that might be a slow burn at first but can eventually grow to become very powerful. Whether you prefer to utilise blades or the trusty bow-and-arrow, there are plenty of ways to maximise this class to your specific type of playstyle too, even with the recent Diablo 4 1.0.3 Update patch.

If you’re someone who’s been curious about the Rogue but aren’t sure about the best ways to fill out your skill tree, knowing which are the very best Diablo 4 Rogue builds out there can help provide you with some much-needed inspiration. When you know what you’re doing you can create a Rogue able to dish out a high degree of damage using Active Skills that require very little cooldown. Here’s three of our recommended Rogue builds.

Best Diablo 4 Rogue builds – Penetrating Shot

This Diablo 4 Rogue build, in case you hadn’t guessed, is centred all around the character class’ ranged abilities. It’s one capable of clearing hordes of enemies near instantly as a result of being imbued with Shadow, and lets players release a burst of Critical Damage hits to help build up Combo Points, which are specific to this character class. The DPS can reach as high as 50,000 if configured to correctly.

Here's a list of the skills you should unlock and equip in order to make the most of the Diablo 4 Rogue Penetrating Shot build, alongside our recommended upgrade path:

  • Dash – Enhanced + Discipline
  • Dark Shroud – Enhanced + Countering
  • Shadow Imbuement – Enhanced + Blended

The Diablo 4 Penetrating Shot build is sure to appease players who don’t want to lean into the class’ melee traits and instead want utilise ranged attacks in a way that deals high Critical Damage. The shadow-imbued Penetrating Shot is sure to do exactly that, working against both single shot targets as well as a way to take down demon groups using effective AoE.

Best Diablo 4 Rogue builds – Twisting Blades

If you do want to invest in a melee skill path, then look no further than the Diablo 4 Twisting Blades Rogue build. Not only will it help you stay alive at close range, but it absolutely can tear through low-level enemies at a clip, dealing a great deal of damage when buffed with Shadow Imbuement. It offers good survivability too, so you can get up close and personal with foes without fear of suffering high damage.

Here's a list of the skills you should unlock and equip in order to make the most of the Diablo 4 rogue Twisting Blades build, alongside our recommended upgrade path:

  • Blade Shift – Enhanced + Fundamental
  • Twisting Blades – Enhanced + Advanced
  • Shadow Step – Enhanced + Disciplined
  • Shadow Imbuement – Enhanced + Blended
  • Dash – Enhanced + Disciplined
  • Shadow Clone – Prime + Supreme

You’ll likely see a few variations on the Diablo 4 Twisting Blades Rogue build floating around the internet, meaning there is some degree of flexibility to be had with it. Just be sure to apply four core skills: Twisting Blades, Shadow Step, Shadow Imbuement, and Dash. These all work in tandem to let your Rogue character wreck shop with standard and AoE melee attacks.

Best Diablo 4 Rogue builds – Trapper

The Rogue is the sneakiest of Diablo 4 character classes, as alluded to earlier, and there’s arguably no tactic sneakier than laying down traps. The Diablo 4 Trapper Rogue build specialises in high DPS (damage per second) using Thorns, Traps and Poisons while buffing the class’ core Flurry Active Skill. It makes for a unique combination that empowers you without necessarily needing you to get your hands dirty. This build is a bit of a gamble compared to the others and will take a bit of getting used to, but for some it’ll be a high risk worth taking.

Here's a list of the skills you should unlock and equip in order to make the most of the Diablo 4 rogue Trapper build, alongside our recommended upgrade path:

  • Puncture – Enhanced + Fundamental
  • Flurry – Enhanced + Improved
  • Dash – Enhanced + Disciplined
  • Poison Trap – Enhanced + Blended
  • Death Trap – Prime + Supreme

With the Diablo 4 Trapper Rogue build you’ll be equipped with a buffed trap for almost every type of occasion. Poison Trap obviously poisons enemies using toxins to let you focus on other enemies using Flurry while Death Trap offers a second alternate method by dealing our vast amounts of burst damage when triggered – again it delivers a focus on DPS. Any enemy that wanders into these has multiple avenues in which to die thanks to sped up health drain.
