Red-faced Kate Garraway admitted her husband Derek Draper rescued her from an embarrassing slip-up that took place when she was awarded an MBE by the Prince of Wales.
Derek watched on proudly in his wheelchair as she received the award from Prince William on Wednesday.
Recalling the moment, Kate told her Good Morning Britain co-star Ben Shephard she made an awkward slip-up while talking to others who were receiving their awards.
She said: "After that lovely moment and, of course, the Prince of Wales is so lovely and makes everything very special for everybody.
"You obviously have a long wait for your moment and in beautiful state rooms and what you realise is apart from being ridiculously honoured to have one yourself, you're with all these incredible people who have done have [amazing things].

Kate Garraway was presented with an MBE (ITV)"I was walking along pushing Derek through and we walked past somebody, a very dashing young man and a beautiful girl and I was taken with her and her lovely outfit so I said, 'Congratulations.'"
"As we went past, Derek said, 'That's Gareth Bale,' and I said, 'Oh was it?'" Kate added before going back to speak to the legendary Welsh footballer.
The Good Morning Britain host continued: "Later, I spoke to a different group of people and told them, 'I've just made a total fool of myself and not recognised Gareth Bale and then started chatting to them, 'Which of you are [receiving an honour]?'"

"I said, 'I've just made a fool of myself' and he said, 'Well you're done it with me too,'' she added.
Kate admitted it was "shameful" and her daughter Darcy was "furious".
Speaking about the accolade last year, the Good Morning Britain presenter said she felt a bit "awkward" but was "honoured" to receive the award.
She added: "I actually feel very awkward about it all really, I don't know why, because I'm thrilled to bits and incredibly honoured.
"But you just sort of think 'What? Me?', and then you think it's not real."
