Tottenham have completed the signing of James Maddison from Leicester as Ange Postecoglou adds another new face to his squad.
The north London side sealed the signing of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario earlier in the week and have now wrapped up a swift deal for the England playmaker, who was also wanted by Newcastle. A £40million fee was agreed between the two clubs, with Maddison putting pen to paper on a five-year contract after undergoing a medical on Wednesday.
He is set to see his wages increase dramatically at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Maddison will bank £170,000 a week with his new employers - and secures a stay in the Premier League following Leicester’s relegation to the Championship last term.
Maddison’s move to north London brings to an end a hugely successful five-year stint with Leicester. Signed for £25m from Norwich, he has gone on to make 203 appearances for the Foxes, scoring 55 goals.
He lifted the FA Cup and Community Shield during his time at the King Power Stadium, whilst he also enjoyed two years in Europe. Maddison was one of Leicester’s standout performers last season with ten goals and nine assists in the Premier League but could not prevent the club’s demotion to the second tier.

The three-time England international joins a Spurs side that is aiming to recover under new boss Ange Postecoglou. The former Celtic manager was appointed as Antonio Conte’s long-term successor following a dire season in north London.

Spurs will be without European football for the first time since the 2009/10 season after they finished eighth last term. Their business with Leicester might not be completely finished there.
The north London side also hold an interest in Foxes winger Harvey Barnes and saw a joint bid for him and Maddison rejected before striking a deal for the midfielder. Spurs academy graduate Harry Winks could be set to go the other way with a deal for him close.
Should a deal go through, he would become Enzo Maresca’s first signing as Leicester boss after arriving from Manchester City in the summer.
