Diablo 4 is the first game in the series to release in an era where crossplay is widely available, but does Blizzard take advantage?

Diablo 4 is on no less than six different platforms (PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC), and now that crossplay is the norm thanks to games like Fortnite and Minecraft. However, the question on everyone's mind is does Blizzard's latest adventure into hell let you bring along your buddies on different systems?

Luckily the answer is yes! No matter if you're on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC, you can play with anyone. This also extends to cross-generation play, players on PS4 and Xbox One can play with their pals on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. This is all thanks to Blizzard integrating Battle.Net into Diablo 4 (the same system used by the likes of Capcom for Street Fighter 6 crossplay using Capcom ID). The same will likely apply to any future platforms that Blizzard decides to bring the game to (a port for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 perhaps?)

How to activate Diablo 4 crossplay

To take advantage of crossplay, you'll need to make sure crossplay is enabled in-game first. You can do that by following these steps:

But that's not all, if you want to chat with players on other platforms you'll need to also enable cross-platform communications, which you can do by following these steps:

And that's you set, you can now invite your pals to play with you via the social tab on the map screen (provided you have them as a friend on Battle.Net

Does Diablo 4 have cross progression

The answer is also a resounding yes, you'll be able to bring your best Necromancer build from your copy on PS5 to PC or Xbox One, provided you are logged into the same Battle.Net account on all of the platforms. This process is automatic so you won't need to worry about performing any save transfers each time you want to play somewhere else (like we've seen in games like Cyberpunk 2077), it's all sorted for you.
