A curious little puppy was in for a bit of an ordeal after poking her head through a hole in her owner's wall, only to find herself stuck fast and awaiting rescue.
Four-month-old Teale had been out in the garden doing her business on Saturday, June 27, when she put her head through a hole in the house intended to fit an extractor tube for the tumble dryer.
The poor young labrador, who lives in Longtown, Cumbria, quickly realised she couldn't pull herself loose and was jammed helplessly behind a bookcase.
Her "embarrassed" owner had no choice but to call the staff at Carlisle East Fire Station to rescue her beloved pet, and it wasn't long before caring firefighters were by Teale's side, scrambling to free her.

Fortunately, firefighters were able to get Teale free with "minimal fuss" in around 10 minutes, using a small saw and pliers. Teale was luckily unharmed, and appeared very grateful indeed as she "thanked" staff by jumping up and greeting them with "lots of licks".
Another photo, which has since been shared via the station's Facebook page, shows Teale being held by crew manager Stuart Forrester, accompanied by four other kind-hearted rescuers.

The property was open and the owner was inside. He was a bit upset that his dog was stuck and he was a bit embarrassed but he was calm.
"He gestured to the wall so we moved a bookcase and then we were confronted by the head of the puppy. She wasn't howling or barking. She looked sheepish and had puppy dog eyes. I think she knew we were there to help and we reassured her with a stroke."
He continued: "She had tried to get back inside but she couldn't quite make it. I think she was just being nosy and causing mischief. When we freed her she ran straight into the living room and jumped up at us.
"It's always a huge relief [to rescue an animal]. Nobody likes seeing an animal in distress. Obviously, when there's a happy ending it's always a good one for us. It made sure we ended the shift on a high."
The Facebook post, which has since been shared more than 500 times, reads as follows: "At 16.15 pm, Carlisle East were mobilised to a property in Longtown, to reports of a young dog with its head stuck in a wall.
"In attendance, the crew were greeted by a mischievous four-month-old labrador puppy called Teale, who had found herself in a predicament by getting her head stuck in an extractor vent for a tumble dryer, and was feeling very sorry for herself.
"Fortunately crews managed to remove Teale with minimal fuss using small tools, and she was no worse for wear for her ordeal. She was very appreciative, and rewarded the crew with lots of cuddles and licks!"
Many social media users thanked the team for helping the adorable girl out, with one person commenting: "Oh poor wee soul lol well done lads happy, happy ending."

Another applauded: "Literal worst nightmare situation. I think I would panic if I found one of my dogs like that. Well done guys for getting her free!"
