Mikel Arteta hasn't officially made any signings yet but it has still been a frenzied summer window so far for the Arsenal manager.

The Gunners are very close to the signing of Jurrien Timber from Ajax, having reportedly agreed personal terms with the defender. And a seal for Chelsea's Kai Havertz is also expected to be confirmed this week, with a £65 million fee reportedly agreed between the two clubs.

But it's the saga over Declan Rice that is dominating the headlines. The Gunners have already had a series of bids rejected for the West Ham midfielder, but they are no longer the only team to have tabled the offer with Manchester City now officially submitting their own bid.

It's a development which will have chiefs on red alert, but there are also a number of stars heading out of the Emirates to fund the proposed signings.

Here's a round-up of the latest transfer news from the Emirates.

Arsenal launch improved bid for Timber

Arsenal have launched an improved bid for Ajax's Jurrien Timber after seeing an opening offer rejected.

Arsenal now want the Dutchman to strengthen their defensive ranks, which were somewhat exposed in the final months of the season as William Saliba remained absent through injury. Their £30 million offer was knocked back but they've come back with a £41.5m bid, as per The Sun.

Ajax chiefs value Timber at closer to £50 million, which may force the north Londoners to negotiate further with the Dutch side if they want their man. The Gunners have agreed personal terms over a five-year deal with the defender, meaning only the fee has to be agreed.

Man City rebuffed after making move for Rice

Declan Rice is still understood to favour a move to Arsenal, despite Manchester City making a statement of intent with a bid for the England midfielder.

According to The Athletic, City's bid is worth an initial £80 million plus up to £10m in add-ons. Arsenal have since lodged a record-breaking new bid worth a total of £105million in a bid to seal a deal.

Sky Sports reports that Arsenal remains Rice's preferred destination, while adding things could yet change depending on City's movements. The broadcaster has also addressed suggestions the England star - who became a father in 2022 - might not want to uproot his family by leaving London.

Seven stars heading for the exit at the Emirates

Arsenal are hoping to make a huge splash in the transfer market this week by spending over £200 million on Timber, Havertz and Rice - and Arteta is planning a clearout to pay for it.

One player on the brink is Thomas Partey, who has attracted interest from Juventus. Partey was signed to much fanfare in a big £45m transfer from Atletico Madrid back in 2020 and still has two years left on his contract.

But his patchy injury record and limited impact on the team since then have contributed to making him expendable. And he's on a long list of players that Arteta is looking to offload.
