Aaron Rodgers recently said that new team-mate Garrett Wilson could become the best wide receiver in the NFL, and the offensive rookie of the year is confident he can live up to expectations.

Rodgers will be throwing to a new offense next season, although some of his former pals at the Green Bay Packers joined him at the New York Jets. The New Yorkers have one of the most exciting young teams in the league, and they're confident too.

Wilson is being tipped for a breakthrough season, one even better than his impressive rookie year. the Jets receiver could be the hottest pick in fantasy football, and fans will be happy to hear what he had to say after Rodgers' praise.

"I expect more than all that," Wilson said to The Post. "For me, it’s always been about the ultimate confidence in myself and putting the work behind it so you know it can happen when the season comes around.

"I’m not buying into all that stuff too much. No one’s expectations for me are higher than my own." But while Wilson is confident in his own ability, he and the offense have been going right back to basics to learn Rodgers' style of play.

Rodgers is one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, but left the Packers for the first time in his career this offseason. It's been a big adjustment even for the veteran, but also for those at the Jets already.

"I was trying to be a sponge, and make sure I was locked into learning this new playbook and all the nuances to it," Wilson added. "It’s been a great learning experience for me and I’ve been able to grow a lot.

"Having a new offense — in a sense starting over — has been good for us. Being a young guy, I can adapt."

The Jets missed out on the playoffs again last year, and their postseason drought is currently the longest in the NFL. They improved last season and went close, but the quarterback position let them down as Zach Wilson struggled with consistency.

But now Rodgers has been brought in to resolve their issues, and it'll allow Wilson to get the perfect mentoring until he's ready to lead the franchise long-term. Rodgers' deal expires after two seasons, and then Wilson will take over and put everything he's learned under the veteran to work.
