Tyson Fury once tried to trick his dad John into accepting a £500,000 Rolls Royce as a gift by claiming it was for his wife Paris.

Heavyweight champion Fury, 34, is no stranger to high-end cars as he owns two Rolls-Royce Cullinans, a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon and multiple Ferraris. 'The Gypsy King' tried his best to get his dad John to ditch his old Volkswagen by taking him to a Rolls Royce dealership, tricking him by saying that he was car hunting for his wife Paris.

John recalled the story when he told Freebets.com: “I see the price. It’s a £500,000 car. I said, ‘She doesn’t need that to do the school run.’ We had a little bit of an argument and he said, ‘No dad, it’s yours. You are driving a 30-year-old car around.’"

Although he was taken aback by his son's generosity, John turned down the gift as he didn't want to drive around in a high-end car. “It’s not me. I’m not a poser and I don’t want to try to be in anybody’s face. I don’t want to make people jealous. I love my VW. It’s got memories from when I was a young man."

Fury is currently struggling to book a fight having not stepped foot in the ring since his lacklustre trilogy fight against Derek Chisora. The Brit is pencilled-in to fight fellow heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia at the end of the year after his Ukrainian rival recently signed a deal with Skills Challenge Promotions, who have also teased a "premium offer" for Fury.

John has warned his son to ditch his current team, including coach SugarHill Steward, before his next fight as he told Stamina For Sale: "Tyson likes different people around him telling him how great he is. I’ll tell them straight, if it’s not working I’ll say it’s not working. In Tyson’s case, he don’t like the truth, but I’m going to tell him it anyway because he’s my son and it’s on his best interests.

“All the SugarHills, everybody out there, they’re all 10% men. They’re all after the 10%. It’s a business, you can’t blame them. They’re thinking of their own ends and making a living. But it’s up to you to have enough brains to see through that. You don’t move them out of their job. Don’t make a friend out of them, or get close to them."
