When it comes to online dating, people can spend hours creating their profiles with their favourite pictures and a clever bio. But one woman claims this only attracts "jerks" - and singles should instead post less flattering pictures of themselves to secure dates with "nicer men".

Taking to Reddit, she explained how she went on three dates after she started "reverse catfishing", saying they're the nicest men she has met online so far. The woman said: "I started reverse catfishing. I basically post my less flattering/no make up pictures on my dating profile.

"I messaged the guys I matched with for at least a few days to figure out whether they actually were decent or not. When I decided they met my standards, I met up with them for a quick date."

She went on to explain how their "eyes lit up" when they saw her, with them all admitting her pictures do not do her justice.

"When they saw me in person the first time, all of them eventually admitted that they think I’m prettier than they were expecting," she added.

"They all were incredibly sweet.

"Two of them didn’t work out just for logistical reasons, but things are going amazingly with the third.

"I never had any luck when I posted my most flattering pictures, most of the guys I talked to ended up being jerks.

"I don’t know how well this will work for men, but I’d recommend it for any of the ladies on the apps."

Commenting on her post, one user said: "Under promise and over deliver."

Another user added: "This worked for me as a dude. I've been with my now wife for a little over nine years.

"She said I'm much more attractive in person than I was in my photos. I wasn't trying to do that but apparently I don't photograph well."

A third user said: "This is the secret for success in all things in life."

One more user added: "You have cracked the code of every field of life, under promise over deliver, you mam have unlocked the final boss."
