Arsenal are desperate to build on an impressive campaign this summer, having finished second in the Premier League and sealed a return to the Champions League.

Mikel Arteta wants to add strength in depth ahead of another Premier League title bid and their first Champions League campaign in six years. Arsenal are yet to make any new signings, but Pablo Mari's loan move to Monza is set to be made permanent after they avoided relegation from Serie A and academy graduate Ainsley Maitland-Niles has departed on a free.

Several other players could also leave Arsenal to make way for a number of new additions. Here, Mirror Football runs through some of the latest transfer lines.

Balogun warning

Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun has insisted he "definitely won't go on loan again" amid speculation about his future.

The 21-year-old scored 21 goals for French side Stade Reims last season and the likes of AC Milan and Napoli are said to be interested in signing him this summer. And when asked about his future while on international duty with the USA, Balogun suggested he will either stay at Arsenal or make a permanent move elsewhere.

"I'm not sure [about] the discussions that are going to take place," he said. "I'm not sure what's going to happen. But I'm just committed to now; I try to stay present. I obviously want to enjoy the moment with my team and my family. What I can say is that I definitely won't go on loan again."

Partey decision

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to sell Thomas Partey as Arteta continues his midfield rebuild, with Granit Xhaka also set to leave this summer.

Xhaka has been heavily linked with a switch to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen and Partey could follow him out the door. According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal 'could be tempted into selling him' with Arteta looking to sign two new midfielders.

West Ham captain Declan Rice is Arteta's top target, while the likes of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, Manchester City superstar Ilkay Gundogan and Southampton teenager Romeo Lavia are also on their radar.

Havertz boost

Arsenal have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Chelsea forward Kai Havertz, with ESPN claiming he has informed the club he will not be signing a new contract.

Havertz's current deal is due to expire in 2025 and Mirror Football understands he is keen on a move to the Emirates. Arteta is keen to add firepower to his squad ahead of their Champions League return and Arsenal are close to agreeing personal terms with the Germany international.

However, Chelsea's £70m asking price has so far proved a stumbling block and Arsenal will be hoping Havertz's refusal to sign a contract extension may force the Blues to lower their demands.
