The Princess of Wales will be gearing up for today's Trooping the Colour by looking forward to a seemingly glamorous horse-drawn carriage ride.

Every year since joining the Royal Family, Kate has enjoyed the very royal mode of transport to get from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade for and back as part of the Sovereign's Birthday Parade.

But royal fans were concerned at the 2019 event when she was reportedly left feeling out of sorts after the traditional carriage procession.

Kate sat in a carriage alongside Queen Camilla, who was then the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they travelled to and from the military event.

Some wondered why she looked at times a little off-colour and not her usually smiley self.

However, the Mirror revealed that it was in fact the carriage ride that left Kate feeling somewhat sick due to the swaying motion.

The late Queen also suffered seasickness too – despite sailing in the Royal Yacht Britannia for 43 years – and recommended her favourite pills to Kate.

A royal source said at the time: "The truth is the Duchess of Cambridge gets very seasick and doesn’t enjoy the rocking motion of carriages.

“Worrying she may be ill on such an important occasion as Trooping the Colour added to her stress."

Kate is likely to be back in the carriages again for today's Trooping the Colour, the first of King Charles' reign, alongside Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The three children made their debuts in the carriages last year when Trooping kicked off the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Not only will the parade on Saturday be King Charles' first-ever birthday parade, it will also be the first for Kate in her new military role.

It was last year that she became the Colonel of the Irish Guards - a position previously held by her husband Prince William.

And already this year, she has fulfilled colonel duties, which have included taking part in the Irish Guards' well-known St Patrick's Day parade.

At Trooping the Colour, colonels usually wear full military uniform, with some, including William and Princess Anne, even taking part in the parade on horseback.

And even though it has been announced that both Charles and William will ride on horseback during the display - it is reported that Kate will stick to using a carriage - and will not wear military uniform.

The same goes for Queen Camilla, who was recently appointed Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, a role previously held by Prince Andrew but has been vacant since he was stripped of his royal titles.
