Liverpool declare huge interest in PSG wonderkid as Ryan Gravenberch speaks out

The summer transfer window is open and Liverpool are busy trying to build on the addition of Alexis Mac Allister.

The club's new sporting director Jorg Schmadtke is in charge of recruiting more players for the Jurgen Klopp rebuild after James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita left on free transfers.

Liverpool are interested in Nice's Khephren Thuram, Borussia Monchengladbach's Manu Kone, Celta Vigo's Gabri Veiga, Bayern Munich's Ryan Gravenberch and Southampton's Romeo Lavia. But Saints captain James Ward-Prowse and Chelsea's in-demand star Mason Mount do not feature on their shortlist.

The club are also working on sales, with fringe players and players who spent the 2022/23 campaign out on loan being made available for transfer.

Liverpool announced on Thursday that back-up goalkeeper Adrian had been offered a new contract, but that youngsters Jack Bearne, Liam Hughes, Charlie Hayes-Green, Oscar Kelly, Fidel O’Rourke, Oludare Olufunwa and Iwan Roberts were leaving.

Liverpool are 'very interested' in signing Paris Saint-Germain youngster Warren Zaire-Emery, according to RMC Sport.

Zaire-Emery is only 17 but the midfielder already has serious suitors, with Borussia Dortmund reportedly interested in signing him after selling Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid. Meanwhile, PSG are trying to use him as a makeweight in a deal with Manchester City for Bernardo Silva.

Zaire-Emery has made 31 appearances for PSG and is described as the ‘jewel’ of the French club’s academy. Yet he currently has Marco Verratti, Carlos Soler, Renato Sanches, Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha, Georginio Wijnaldum and Leandro Paredes ahead of him in the pecking order.

Clarkson joining Aberdeen

Liverpool have agreed to sell young midfielder Leighton Clarkson to Aberdeen.

Clarkson impressed on loan with the Scottish side last season, chipping in with six goals and nine assists in 38 matches and Liverpool are happy to allow him to move north of the border.

The 21-year-old is set to sign a long-term contract with Aberdeen after rejecting a move to other Scottish clubs and Championship sides.

He came through the Reds academy but only made three senior appearances for Klopp’s side. Tyler Morton, who was on loan at Blackburn last season, is likely to be given a chance to impress in pre-season.

Gravenberch ‘just wants to play’

Liverpool target Ryan Gravenberch has admitted that he will push for an exit from Bayern Munich if Thomas Tuchel cannot guarantee him more game time next season.

“I just want to play more, preferably at Bayern Munich," he told De Telegraaf. "And otherwise at a club where I play 100 per cent. That is my preference. Because I don't want to have another year like the one I've had now. One season like that is good, I really learned a lot. But I just want to play football.”

Gravenberch started just five games for Bayern last season after a £21million move from Ajax, but Tuchel’s arrival as a replacement for Julian Nagelsmann did offer him encouragement.

The 21-year-old is competing against Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka for a place, while the arrival of Konrad Laimer will make things tougher next season.
