Liverpool have tabled contract offers to four squad members, including goalkeeper Adrian, as they look to finalise their squad for next season.

The Reds have already begun their reshuffle with Alexis Mac Allister coming in from Brighton as their first summer signing. Stalwarts like James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Roberto Firmino will all leave after seeing their respective deals expire.

Adrian, who's made 26 appearances for the Merseysiders, has seen a new offer put to him with Liverpool citing him as a "vital member" of the squad in a press release on their website. Youngsters Paul Glatzel, Jacob Poytress and Reece Trueman have also been offered new deals.

The back-up shot-stopper was crucial in the early stages of the club's title-winning campaign when he deputised for the injured Alisson. He's filled in when needed since that period but finds himself behind Irishman Caoimhín Kelleher in the pecking order at Anfield.

Adrian is mulling over the offer with the 36-year-old potentially seeking more minutes at this stage of his career. He's already been able to claim the Premier League title, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup. Jurgen Klopp was hopeful back in May that the club could retain the goalkeeper.

He said: "Adrian, if we don't say goodbye [already] what would that mean? That he probably stays, but if there is nothing in the papers then it is not decided yet finally. We will not do it [say goodbye] just in case, but I have a rather good feeling that we [will] keep working together in that position."

Liverpool's summer is likely to focus on their possible arrivals, rather than departures. Several major names have left, albeit few of them were playing regular minutes. The club endured a poor campaign by their high standards, finishing fifth and missing out on the Champions League.

Klopp is set to target midfield arrivals with three of his options in that area leaving the club. There was criticism last term that the squad had been allowed to age, which prevented them from producing the intensity required in a Klopp system.

The German has been open about his expectation that several new faces will arrive. "Of course, we will be busy - for me more on the phone than anything else," he said when the topic of transfers was brought up. "That's kind of work as well but that will be fine, I'm happy to do that, and we will see."
