Emmerdale's Jeff Hordley has revealed his real-life link to Will Ash, the actor who plays his brother Caleb, as well as revealing more about the bitter 'rivalry' they share

Emmerdale's Jeff Hordley has revealed his real-life link to the actor who plays his brother Caleb - as well as bitter 'rivalry' they have.

Jeff has played Cain Dingle on the ITV soap for several years, but his character was rocked at Christmas last year by the arrival of his long lost brother Caleb, played by Will Ash. The two characters hadn't seen each other in years, but eventually Cain came round to the idea of Caleb being back in his life, whilst their sister Chas welcomed him with open arms.

However, they were unaware of Caleb's real reason for being in the village. Caleb was harbouring a huge secret; he is Frank Tate's son and his plan was to fleece Kim Tate of all her money and her beloved Home Farm.

As Lorraine went behind-the-scenes ahead of a dramatic episode this evening, which will see Caleb pushed off a cliff by an unknown attacker, Jeff Hordley weighed in on whether Cain could be the one who pushes Caleb.

Presenter Jake Quickenden asked him: "You actually went to school together, you're both from Oldham?" as Jeff replied that they both went to the same school, adding: "We did yeah. We did a play together at school."

However, whilst the pair have a big connection off screen, they also have a big rivalry - as they support different football teams.

Jeff confirmed he was a Manchester City fan, whilst Caleb actor Will Ash said he supported Manchester United.

Quizzed on what it meant for their friendship, Will joked: "There's a lot more bad things about him too."

Will previously revealed the pair went to school together and worked with a drama teacher that knew a string of acclaimed actors.

He said: "We both went to the same school, North Chadderton Comprehensive in Oldham and had a really inspirational drama teacher called Colin Snell who not only inspired us but the likes of Nicola Stephenson and then went on to another school with Jonas Armstrong and Jenna Coleman. For me when I was that age, coming in and seeing all these lads in a play taking acting really seriously, I've never seen that before and it was one of the reasons I ended up going professional. It was quite inspiring."
