It washes all your clothes for you but sometimes your washing machine needs a little bit of TLC too so you're getting the most out of it.

It may feel like an impossible task to wash the washing machine itself, but if you want your clothes to remain smelling as fresh as possible, it's vital.

If not cleaned often enough, the machine can begin omitting an unusual smell, and sometimes the seal around the washing machine can become mouldy and gross.

But thankfully, fans of Mrs Hinch, who often posts cleaning hacks on her Instagram page, are on hand to help advise on the issue, and they gave invaluable advice.

Posting on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, one new mum admitted that she'd recently neglected her washing machine since becoming a parent.

She anonymously posted: "Help. I've neglected our washing machine since becoming a mum and now it has a buildup of black on the seal that I can't seem to wipe off. Any suggestions, please? Thank you."

The picture she posted to accompany it showed unsightly tiny black spots all over the seal.

When cleaning this part of the washing machine, it's important to tackle the mould that can be seen, but also the underside of the seal as this is where the water drains away.

The most common recommendation was a simple spray product that costs just just £1 from the Poundshop, and one social media user claimed they picked one up for just 95p in Wilko.

One wrote: "Astonish Mould and Mildew spray. If you use this you'll find that the mould wipes straight off."

"This stuff is really good", someone agreed. "Recently I used it in the detergent drawer and where the water comes out. It’s a game changer for removing black buildup and only costs 95p from Wilkos."

Another praised: "Astonish Mould and Mildew. Spray it on and leave it for a few minutes and it'll all come off."
