A mum was fuming after a chip shop allegedly mocked her daughter for applying for a job there.

Natalie Cochrane took to Facebook to post a screenshot of the conversation she claims took place with Oasis Fish and Chips in Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

The account admin appears to make fun of her daughter Simone after she put herself forward for the till job.

However, the takeaway owner has since apologised for exchange, and said they have now made a "change in senior management".

Oasis opened the original chat with: "Hi, I contacted you after you applied to the position of counter assistant.

"If you are not serious about finding employment you should probably stop applying."

The daughter responded: "Hey I never received anything."

Oasis replied: "Can you send me your phone number?"

A daughter wrote: "No I am no longer interested in this role."

Oasis then replied: "hahahahahahahahahaha. As if I would hire you."

Furious at the response, the mum shared exchange online.

She added: "This is Oasis chippy's response to my daughters application for a counter assistant, they never contacted her previously about the vacancy.

"She obviously felt uncomfortable about their rude messages so declined the vacancy, then they messaged her laughing saying "as if I would hire you"

"What kind of ***** own this chippy?

"I messaged them and they were as rude to me."

Commenters were equally appalled.

One replied: "So sorry, your daughter has an experience like this when trying to get a job."

Another wrote: "I had a similar message telling me stop applying!! when the previous time i had applied was a year before and turned it down due to bad reviews about working there!!!"

A third said: "That's terrible! What a way to treat the next generation of workers.

"They are having a bad enough time of it as it is. I would be straight down there if she sent that to my daughter."

In a post of its own, the chip shop said: "Following on from the Facebook post from Natalie Cochrane and after extensive conversations with her, I as owner of Oasis whole heartedly apologise for the comments made on behalf of Oasis to Natalie’s daughter Simone.

"I have two young daughters myself and in no way do I condone the comments made.

"We treat complaints seriously and as a result of the Facebook post, I have decided to have a change in senior management at Oasis where I will be more actively involved with immediate effect.

"I will also be looking into all allegations made by former employees and customers. So, if you feel in any way affected by the post, please contact me directly at [email protected]."
