Reddit down: Total blackout leaves users unable to access popular service

UPDATE: After almost 30 minutes of issues, it appears that Reddit is now back online and fully back to normal.

If you're trying and failing to access Reddit this afternoon you are definitely not alone. The popular social news aggregation site is currently having some serious issues with users seeing a black screen and not the usual threads, posts and pictures they'd expect to find when logging in.

The gremlins started at around 3:45pm and are still ongoing.

Down Detector UK, which monitors outages across Britain, has - at the time of writing - recorded almost 8,000 Reddit reports with downdetector.com registering a whopping 45,000 - which makes this a serious issue.

Users that have tried to access Reddit on both desktop, mobile and the app have reported issues with pages loading - many are simply seeing a blank screen with an error message that says such as "sorry, we couldn't load posts for this page" or "something went wrong".

Of course, with Reddit down, people are now flocking to other social media platforms including Twitter to moan about the outage.

One user named Dawn, politely tweeted: "Reddit is down. Please fix that. Thank you in advance."

Whilst another named Denis thought it could be a good thing with him tweeting: "#Reddit being down should make for a productive Monday."

It's currently unclear what is causing the glitch and how long things will be down but Mirror Online has tried to access Reddit and is also seeing the blacked-out pages.
