Ben Foster has spoken of the conditions which formed part of his agreement with Wrexham after signing with the club for another season.

The veteran goalkeeper played a pivotal role as the North Wales club achieved promotion back into the EFL after a 15-year absence, with his dramatic last-minute penalty save in a top of the table clash against Notts County proving crucial. After signing in January, the former Manchester United stopper made eight appearances in all, keeping three clean sheets.

Now, the 40-year-old has revealed the details of the agreement he struck with Red Dragons owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney upon signing in March. Foster explained that the Hollywood pair were understanding of the ex-England star's personal needs, describing the duo as having been "flexible" with his demands.

Speaking on The Fellas Podcast, the former Watford man said: "They'd have to be flexible with me with sort of days off basically.

"Like I said earlier I live a couple hours away from Wrexham. So if I'm driving to training then that's two hours and then I'll train, and then to get home you've got to get through M6 through Birmingham, take you three hours sometimes. In the six weeks I did the club were so good with me.

He also explained that his training schedule was tailored to his requirements, with Reynolds and McElhenney ensuring that manager Phil Parkinson allowed him to train three times a week. Foster added: "They were so flexible. They gave me sort of extra days off.

"We would play on a Saturday, they'd give me Sunday and Monday off. I'd train on Tuesday, we'd all have a day off on Wednesday anyway. I'd only be training really three days."

The goalkeeper originally retired back in September of last year before making his shock return to action earlier this year. He sprung another surprise, by signing a contract to play for another year at the Racecourse Ground earlier this month, expressing that the the club 'feels like home'.

He told Wrexham's club website: “I’d decided before the end of last season I wanted to do it, because it feels like home. I’ve never joined a football club and felt at ease so quickly.”
