Ward-Prowse emerges as Mount alternative

Liverpool are plotting a move for James Ward-Prowse after appearing to lose out on Mason Mount to Manchester United.

Mount has agreed personal terms with the Red Devils, having entered the final year of his contract at Chelsea. United will now need to agree a deal with the Blues, though given that Mount is set on an exit that would appear to be simple.

It leaves Jurgen Klopp scrambling for alternatives as he looks to rebuild his midfield department. James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita have all left Anfield, with Klopp now left looking for several recruits to revamp that area of his squad.

Mount had been linked with a move to Anfield, with his time at Chelsea increasingly looking to be over. But Klopp has been forced to move on from the England international, with Ward-Prowse now top of his shopping list.

Fowler predicts Salah transfer interest

Reds legend Robbie Fowler expects some of Europe's big names to make a move for Mo Salah this summer.

Writing in his Mirror Sport column, Fowler said: "I’ve thought for a few months now that he could be targeted this summer, and it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if both Madrid and PSG come in for him - with the French club nailed on in my opinion to try and get him.

‌I don’t think Liverpool fans should be too worried, because he’s got a long contract and the club has proved in the past few years they won’t be forced into selling unless its on their own terms.

‌In saying that, that his statement at the end of the season declaring how devastated he was they didn’t finish in the top four, and there’s no excuse for it was a worry. To me, that didn’t sound like Mo, but his agent. And we know how HE operates."

Liverpool 'want half-price Ward-Prowse deal'

Liverpool are said to be interested in a deal for Southampton's James Ward-Prowse, but only if the Saints slash their asking price in half.

The relegated club want £50m for their 28-year-old captain according to the Mail Online, but Liverpool are thought to value Ward-Prowse at £25m.

The Englishman would represent an experienced squad addition at Anfield in both midfield and potentially at right-back, but the Reds are seemingly happy to wait to see if a deal is possible on their terms.

Liverpool 'to ramp up' Gabri Veiga efforts

Liverpool are set to increase their efforts to sign Gabri Veiga from Celta Vigo, according to Sport.

The young attacking midfielder caught the eye in the past year with 11 goals and four assists in 40 appearances for Celta, including a brace on the final day of the season against Barcelona which helped keep them up.

Both Newcastle and Real Madrid are said to be keen on him, but Liverpool are firmly in the fight.

Zieler planning on Hannover stay

Goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler has been linked with Liverpool this summer, but the veteran stopper would now appear to be staying at Hannover.

The 34-year-old German international was attractive to the Reds as a potential understudy for Alisson Becker, particularly if Caoimhin Kelleher were to leave in order to get first-team football.

Zieler was also attractive to the Reds because he qualifies as a homegrown player due to his time spent on the books at Manchester United as a youngster, but it now looks like he'll stay in Germany.

He said, via Bild: "I'm assuming that I'll wear the Hannover jersey again in the new season."

Hannover sporting director Marcus Mann added: "Ron is firmly planned for us. And that's good. We don't think about it every day."

Naby Keita 'finds new club'

Naby Keita was one of the four Liverpool stars to depart on free transfer this summer as he followed James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in departing the Reds.

Sky Sport in Germany now claim that it hasn't taken long for Keita to find a new club, with the Guinean midfielder set to return to Germany, where he played for RB Leipzig prior to his move to the Reds.

Werder Bremen are said to be working on a deal for Keita, and are confident they can wrap up the move.

'Kephren Thuram's plane' spotted

Everyone loves tracking a plane, don't they?

The Liverpool Echo bring news that fans think they've spotted the jet that could carry Kephren Thuram to Liverpool, with a private aircraft setting off from Blackpool airport to fly to Nice on Thursday, returning on Friday.

Blackpool, of course, was infamously the location for Jurgen Klopp's talks with Virgil van Dijk prior to his transfer in January 2018.

Liverpool hailed for Mac Allister move

Liverpool have been told they have worked some transfer magic with the deal that will see Alexis Mac Allister join from Brighton.

“I don’t think Brighton have particularly tied him up have they. What did they achieve (by getting him to sign a new deal)?” Simon Jordan told talkSPORT.

“You’ve got a World Cup winner coming back. They tied him up to be able to give him to Liverpool at a (fee) properly below market value. I imagine (Brighton) will be a little bit disappointed with the situation.

“Because it’s happening rather quickly. I thought that we’d got Mac Allister tied up in a situation where someone was going to have to pay top money for him. Top money.

“I’d have wanted more for him. I want these big clubs that come along and take everyone else’s vision and don’t do it themselves, to have to pay the prerequisite price for it.”

Klopp dealt early preseason blow

Jurgen Klopp is facing an early obstacle to his hopes of recovering from a disappointing season, with just nine players set to be available for the start of pre-season.

Liverpool endured a difficult campaign, finishing outside the Champions League qualification places and failing to win a trophy. It sets the stage for a huge pre-season, with the Reds squad set to undergo a major overhaul over the summer transfer window.

Klopp will have wanted a smooth pre-season in order to get his ideas across to a revamped squad. But it appears the German will be forced to manage a more disjointed training schedule than he first expected, with only nine players due back on the first day.

Mac Allister closes in on Liverpool move as price tag emerges

Alexis Mac Allister is on the brink of sealing his Liverpool move - after the Brighton midfielder underwent his medical yesterday.

Mirror Football understands, despite reports that the Reds will pay £35m, that an agreement has been reached at a fee which is thought to be somewhere between £45-50million initially.

The medical is likely to be completed today, which would give Liverpool time to tie up any loose ends on the deal before announcing his signing by the end of the week.

Reds target keen on Premier League move

Liverpool target Jonathan Tah is keen to move to the Premier League this summer.

“If he doesn’t sense the right opportunity (to leave), there’s always a chance that he’ll stay,” Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes told BILD.

“(But) he always had the goal of playing in the Premier League. We set up his current deal so that he could do so. If he has a chance to realise that now, it’s okay.

“He has rightly been selected for the Europa League Team of the Season. He played a very good second half of the season.Even in games where the team was not so good, he played well. In the difficult games, Jona has taken an important role.”

Man Utd transfer plans hijacked by Liverpool

Liverpool are closing in on a deal for Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister - and have beaten great rivals Manchester United to his signature in the process.

The Argentine midfielder is on the verge of completing a move to Anfield and is expected to undergo a medical with the Reds before going through the formalities of the move. Mac Allister will become Liverpool’s first signing of what is expected to be a busy summer window for Jurgen Klopp and new sporting director Jorg Schmadkte.

Whilst the club hierarchy will be delighted to kick-off the club’s rebuild with the World Cup winner’s arrival, there is also a huge bonus behind the deal - that Man United can’t sign him. According to The Athletic, the Red Devils had looked at Mac Allister ahead of a potential swoop.

Maupay drops Thuram hint

Everton star Neal Maupay has hinted that Khephren Thuram could soon become a Liverpool player.

Thuram is being eyed by the Reds following an impressive season at Nice and Maupay believes he could indeed arrive at Anfield.

“He’s a great player. We could be neighbours soon,” Maupay told Nice-Marin.

Bradley loan hailed

Liverpool youth boss Barry Lewtas has hailed Conor Bradley's loan to Bolton as a roaring success, though he could be set for another summer departure.

"How you learn and adapt to what you have is key. There are players here who have been out on their first loan and it hasn't been a huge success, but they have gone on to either the next loan or developed back here," Lewtas said.

“Yes, you want a loan like Conor Bradley who won a trophy at Wembley and won lots of player awards. But it's not to say the boy who didn't play as much didn't learn as well. They would have learned a lot about themselves.”

Huge Kessie boost

Liverpool have been handed a major boost to their plans to upgrade their midfield, with target Franck Kessie set to be avaliable for a cut-price fee.

Kessie has struggled at Barcelona since joining the LaLiga giants from AC Milan.

And now the Ivory Coast international has been put on the market by Barca, with AS claiming it will take a fee of just £30m to sign him.

Asensio snubs Reds

Marco Asensio has turned down the chance to join Liverpool in favour of a move to PSG.

Asensio is leaving Real Madrid this summer and according to AS, the Reds put an offer 'on the table'.

But the Spaniard has snubbed that proposal and is instead expected to complete a free transfer to PSG.

Mac Allister announcement expected

Alexis Mac Allister’s move to Liverpool has moved a step closer after he was given the green light to undertake his medical by his current club Brighton.

‌Mirror Footballunderstands the Argentina international midfielder has already started the testing process, and is likely to complete his checks on Wednesday, after Liverpool agreed in principle a fee to sign him.

If he passes the stringent medical then the Reds are looking to announce what is seen as something of a transfer coup by the end of the week, with the 24-year-old due to fly back to his home country for international duty at the weekend.
