Hundreds of people were evacuated from an EM-Con event this afternoon after a fire broke out at the Motorpoint Arena.
Reports emerged on social media of a fire at the concert arena in Nottingham where EM-Con, described as "The East Midlands biggest popular culture event", is taking place this weekend.
There were no reports of injuries, with the event organisers confirming that the arena was evacuated after the fire alarm went off.
EM-Con organisers said: "Fire alarm evacuate. Well done in doing it in a safe and timely manner.
"Thank you the arena staff in dealing with this in prompt fashion. We will update as soon as we have information."

There has been a fire at Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham (Joseph Raynor/ Nottingham Post)They added that the fire brigade rushed to the scene to deal with the blaze, which according to some attendees, was not big.
In an update published just 30 minutes later, at 2.20pm, the organisers confirmed everyone was safe.
They tweeted: "Everyone is safe, thank you for your understanding and prompt action on leaving the building you made it very easy for @nottinghamarena staff and EM-Con crew.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service told The Mirror that two fire engines from the London Road fire station were called to the Nottingham Arena just before 1.45pm.
When they arrived, they discovered a small electrical fire which was quickly put out with the help of electricians.
