Buckingham Palace officials have refused to say whether Harry and Meghan have been invited to the King's official birthday celebrations.

Next weekend's Trooping the Colour parade will be a historic one as the event marks the first of Charles' reign.

Senior members of the Royal Family will join Charles and Camilla for the impressive military display to celebrate the sovereign's official birthday.

But it's unclear if the monarch's youngest son Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have been invited.

The couple, who moved to the US in 2020, were invited to the event hosted by the late Queen last year.

Since then, Harry's memoir and the couple's Netflix documentary are believed to have strained their relationship with the royals.

Daily Mail columnist Richard Eden reports: "I hear that Prince Harry and Meghan have not, however, been invited to the King's Birthday Parade next weekend."

The lack of invite was "a reflection on the state of relations", a source told the Mail.

A spokesperson from Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the matter when approached by The Mirror.

The couple were officially invited to the Coronation last month, Harry attended the historic event solo before leaving straight after the ceremony in order to get back to California for Archie's fourth birthday.

Today Prince William stepped up for his first leading role linked to the military pageant.

William carried out the Colonel's Review with troops this morning as part of the preparations for next weekend.

Three guards were seen passing out and being carried off in the sweltering heat, as temperatures climbed up to 30C in London.

More than 1,400 soldiers of the Household Division and The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery took part in the review, including 400 musicians from the Massed Bands.
