Pep Guardiola told him to Be Here Now... but Oasis star Noel Gallagher can’t watch his beloved Manchester City in their Champions League final.

Noel, 56, says City boss Guardiola begged him to cancel his US tour so he could serenade the side in Istanbul.

He’ll be in San Diego while brother Liam will watch with his mates in London, meaning the team will have to take on Inter Milan tonight without their two most famous fans cheering them on.

Noel said: “Pep is always trying to get me to bring a guitar to a big game, so I can play in the dressing room afterwards. I went into see him after the Real Madrid game [in the semi-finals] and told him I couldn’t be at the Champions League final.

"Honestly, he gave me a look of utter disgust, as if to say ‘well what the hell are you doing instead then?’.

“I said ‘I am on tour’ and he said ‘cancel it!’. I said ‘I can’t, I’ve sold the tickets now’, and he almost launched me out of his office.”

He added: “My management are told never to book any gigs anywhere in the world around the Champions League final, in case City get there. It usually falls at the end of May.”

Noel will watch the match on TV before joining his band, High Flying Birds, to promote their new album, Council Skies, released last week. He told City’s website: “If City win and [Erling] Haaland scores a hat-trick, I’ll be going on in my underpants.”

Noel and Liam have gone their separate ways since the days of Oasis hits such as Be Here Now and Half The World Away. At their height, the lifelong City supporters played sold-out gigs at the club’s former home, Maine Road.
