It seems as though some people just have a natural knack when it comes to whipping up a gorgeously golden plate of poached eggs, while the rest of us end up with pans of overcooked slimy splodges. Of course, nobody is born with an in-built ability for egg-poaching, and there are various tried and trusted hacks you can turn to if you want to up your game.

Food and lifestyle influencer Georgie, who regularly delights her TikTok followers with her mouth-watering videos, has now shared her top tip for poaching eggs, and it should help you avoid any unpleasant rubbery textures.

In a recent video, Georgie - who goes by the TikTok username @georgiehalfacree - said: "If you guys struggle with poached eggs I am going to show you the best little hack to make them perfect every single time."

Tearing off a piece of clingfilm, Georgie layered it across a ramekin, pushing this right down into the centre before adding 'a tiny little bit of olive oil'. She then spread the oil around using a pastry brush.

Georgie explained: "Then you just want to crack your egg directly into the ramekin. And then what you want to do is pick up all the corners of the cling film.

"Get the air out a little bit and push the egg down to the bottom and then tie a little knot in the cling film."

If done correctly, then this should result in the yolk and whites settling nicely right at the bottom of the film parcel, which should be tied securely to keep the egg contained.

The parcels, which should only contain one egg each, then need to be lowered very carefully into a pan of simmering water and left to cook for a recommended three minutes. Once cooked, you can lift them out with a large spoon and serve them on toast with whatever additional toppings take your fancy.

Georgie added: "All you need to do is remove the cling film. And there you go, that's how you make the perfect poached eggs."

One approving follower wrote: "Wow okay didn’t realise you could save my life like that."

Another applauded: "I cant stop eating poached eggs. This hack is just perfect! Thank you so much."
