A popular Gogglebox duo revealed they are taking a break from filming the hit Channel 4 programme as they headed to the United States.

Tom Malone and his wife Julie, who became fan favourites when they joined the show in 2014 with their children Shaun and Vanessa, left England after sharing an update on Instagram.

Their news follows the conclusion of the 21st series last week.

The pair are now in San Francisco where they have promised to post updates of their trip.

Sharing a family snap on their departure, Julie penned to her 239,000 followers: "Well that's a wrap!! Enjoy tonight's show! Thanks for all your support. Have a great summer from us all xx."

Fans were quick to wish the married couple well as they replied in huge numbers to Julie's pic.

One wrote: "Aww can’t believe it’s over, highlight of my week. Enjoy your time off and see you next time."

Another commented: "Gonna miss Gogglebox, wish it was on all year but hope you all have a great summer."

A third added: "Aww going to miss you all xxx enjoy your summer break see you all very soon."

And a fourth said: "Thanks for all the laughs! Have a great Summer. Look forward to seeing you all back in September."

True to their word, the pair have already shared a couple of videos since landing in America.

In one the pair were seen enjoying a trip to the Golden Gate Bridge, despite its foggy surroundings in unexpectedly cool temperatures.

Another, meanwhile, saw them wandering the streets of the city close to its famous tramlines as they told fans they were heading for an Irish coffee for the first time.

Gogglebox is set to return for a 22nd series in September, with another celebrity version offering likely during the summer months.
