Neighbours fall out for the darndest reasons sometimes.
From the gardener who was reprimanded for adding a few planters to her outdoor space to the neighbour slammed for enjoying a BBQ, even the simplest of things can cause major disputes.
But one homeowner who was unsure if they were in the wrong was left puzzled when they found a neighbour hammering nails into their fence - and who was then offended when asked to stop.
Explaining the bizarre exchange in a post to Reddit, the homeowner outlined: "My next door neighbour was hammering nails into my fence to hang a string of solar lights in their garden.

An hour later I hear her complaining with the other neighbour about how ridiculous I was being over a few nails."

As such, the baffled homeowner couldn't tell if they'd been unreasonable, and they decided to make the most of the Reddit forum 'Am I the A*****e?" that allows social media users to vote on such matters. However, it turns out the homeowner had no need to worry, at least according to responders, who took their side.
Someone asked: "Was she hammering on her side of the fence that you both share or was it just a fence that is strictly yours that you paid for? If you paid for it and it's yours, then you are [not the a*****e].
The post's author replied: "My fence, paid for and installed by myself. This boundary is my legal responsibility to secure, as per my property deeds."
In response, the petitioner wrote: "Then you're def [not the a****e], especially if you asked them nicely. You have every right to protect your property from damage. I wouldn't have been nice about it if it was me, so kudos to you for that."
Another agreed: "Nails damage wood and allows water penetration." And a third said: "Your fence per the comments. Don't really need to consider anything else."
