NFL superstar Tyreek Hill has challenged Lionel Messi to a race when he makes his way over to south beach following his huge move to the MLS.

Messi shocked the footballing world on Wednesday when it was announced that he will join Inter Miami - owned by David Beckham.

It was a move that didn't look to be on the cards as recent as just a few days ago, with Al-Hilal reportedly sending Messi a huge offer to join them, while he also had the chance to make an emotional return to Barcelona.

However, he would eventually chose to join Miami, with Apple and Adidas, along with the MLS themselves getting involved in negotiations to see the Argentinian superstar join.

And although Inter Miami currently find themselves bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, it appears the city now has a a lot to look forward to with their sports teams, with the Heat currently in the NBA Finals, Miami Marlins looking strong in MLB and the Miami Dolphins among the Super Bowl favourites.

Hill, like Messi, recently Miami having been traded from the Kansas City Chiefs last year and making them one of the most exciting teams in the league. And the Dolphins receiver sent a message to Messi, even challenging him to a race once he arrives in south Florida.

Hill sent a message to Messi from the Miami Dolphins' Twitter page saying: "Hey what's up this is Tyreek Hill, I just wanted to say a welcome to the 305 to Lionel Messi - now we got two number 10's, but I just wanted to know which one is faster?!".

Even at Messi's prime, a race would not have gone in his favour, with Hill one of the fastest athletes in sports.

Hill has regularly claimed to be the quickest player in the NFL, with a nickname of 'Cheetah', as he celebrates by putting two fingers up at defensive players when he scores - taunting them by insinuating that he's too quick for them. He even competed in a Track and Field competition earlier this off-season, dominating in a 60-yard dash.

Messi will become an official Inter Miami player on July 5 when the league’s secondary transfer window opens.

“I made the decision that I am going to go to Miami,” he told Mundo Deportivo. “I still don't have it 100% completed, but we decided to continue my journey there.”
