One person was killed and another person injured after they were shot at the funeral of a 10-year-old girl killed by a stray bullet on Mother's Day

The shooting took place at Washington National Cemetery during the funeral of Arianna Davis, who was killed after she was struck by a bullet in an alleged drive-by shooting.

Police said one adult male was shot dead and another adult female sustained non-life-threatening injuries. One person is reportedly in custody.

A call came into police at 1.20pm local time for a shooting and photographs showed law enforcement at the scene with young Arianna's purple coffin still above the ground.

Prince George County Police are now investigating, it has been confirmed.

The force confirmed on social media that the shooting was fatal.

They said on Twitter: "Detectives are investigating a shooting at a cemetery in the 4100 block of Suitland Rd which occurred at approx 1:20 pm.

"We are investigating the circumstances."

Arianna sadly passed away from her injuries on May 17 when she was hit during the drive-by killing three days earlier.

According to reports from the time, the Washington Metropolitan Police (MPD) said Arianna was in a car driving with her family when they suddenly realised she had been hit.

MPD Assistant Chief Andre Wright said: "We have to get to the bottom of this. We're going to do all that we must do to bring these individuals to justice."

A $10,000 reward was issued by the FBI for information leading to the person or people responsible bringing the total to $30,000.

MPD believes Arianna was "accidentally hit in the barrage of gunfire".

In a GoFundMe set up for Arianna, her family said: "Arianna, was a 5th grader who was set to graduate this year and begin middle school in the fall. She loved her family- especially her three brothers.

"She enjoyed her “Mommy and Daughter” dates where she and Ms Antionette would get their nails done, go out to eat, and go shopping together.
