Firefighters call in crane to help them free cow trapped in WW2 bunker

A cow has been rescued by firefighters after getting themselves trapped in a World War Two guard post.

The crews brought in a huge crane to help them lift the animal to safety in Sudbury, Suffolk on Monday.

The cow was strapped up and lifted high over the former pillbox before being brought back down.

Sudbury Fire Station shared their daring rescue on social media, and posted: "Pigs can’t fly, but this cow certainly can!

"Yesterday we were called to the meadows to rescue a cow that was stuck in a pill box.

"Specialist animal rescue crews from Bury Fire Station were also called.

"They were able to strap the cow up and help them safely fly out."

Back in April firefighters were called in to help a stranded moggy who had managed to get herself trapped on a university building.

The cat had made a 325-mile trip down the country after jumping into the family car as they went to visit their offspring at university.

The pet had made its way from Ipswich in Suffolk across country to find itself stuck at Plymouth University in Devon.

The frightened cat had been spotted motionless on a ledge at one of the entrances of the Plymouth University Roland Levinsky building on Monday afternoon, and had reportedly been up there for more than three hours.

Firefighters, RSPCA and university workers were unable to help so a local window cleaner arrived to help get the cat to safety.
