Tottenham have announced Ange Postecoglou as their new manager after a lengthy search to find Antonio Conte's successor.

Postecoglou, 57, arrives from Celtic after two years with the Scottish champions, where he won back-to-back Premiership titles. He guided the club to the Treble this season, secured with the victory over Inverness at Hampden Park on Saturday.

Spurs sacked Conte back in March and set about bringing in a replacement while first Cristian Stiellini and then Ryan Mason were put in temporary charge.

The likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique and Arne Slot were all looked at by Daniel Levy and the Spurs board but Postecoglou has been confirmed as the new man at the helm on a four-year deal.

His first task will be discussing the future of Harry Kane, who has just 12 months remaining on his contract and has attracted interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris has confirmed his plans to leave north London while Postecoglou is likely to want to revamp a squad that finished eighth, 11 points adrift of the top four places.

Levy said: “Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play. He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy - everything that is important to our Club. We are excited to have Ange join us as we prepare for the season ahead."

Celtic brought in 13 new faces in his first summer in charge and while there is no chance there will be that kind of overhaul, new faces are a necessity.

Postecogolou moved to Parkhead after an impressive career in Australia, where he managed the national side for four years from 2013-2017. He then guided Yokohama to the Japanese title before catching the eye of the Scottish giants.

Celtic romped to the title again this season and it had been hoped that he would look to extend his stay in Glasgow but the lure of a move to the Premier League has proven too good to turn down.

He will find out who he will face in his first Premier League encounter as early as next week, when the fixtures for the new season are announced on June 15.
