Police officer's horrific injury suffered while arresting suspected drug dealer

A brave policewoman has shared a shocking head injury she suffered while attempting to arrest a suspected drug dealer.

The new image released by West Yorkshire Police's Wakefield Impact Team shows a large bloody cut to PC Woods' forehead following the incident in the West Yorkshire town on Friday.

She had moved to make an arrest after spotting a man in the middle of an alleged criminal act in a back alley, reports Yorkshire Live.

After the suspect allegedly resisted arrest and tried to flee the scene, the police officer suffered a serious head injury and had to be taken to hospital.

Ali Jones, 24, of no fixed abode, has been charged with assault with intent to resist arrest, two counts of possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply, possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply and two counts of possession of a Class B drug.

A spokesperson West Yorkshire Police said: "A man is due to appear at court today (Saturday, 3 June) charged with assaulting a police officer and drug supply offences.

"Ali Jones, 24, of no fixed abode, has been charged with assault with intent to resist arrest, two counts of possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply, possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply and two counts of possession of a Class B drug.

"It follows an incident on Back Grantley Street in Wakefield yesterday morning (Friday, June 2) in which a female police officer suffered a head injury while attempting to make an arrest."

It comes just two weeks after an off-duty police officer was violently attacked and robbed by four men while waiting for a train at a London underground station in an unrelated incident.

The victim was sat on a bench waiting for a northbound Northern line Tube service at Charing Cross Underground station at just before 6am on May 7 when the violent robbery took place.

He was approached by four men who attacked him, stole his phone and his bag containing a laptop as well as a set of keys.

The police officer suffered a broken wrist, a perforated ear drum and two broken teeth as a result of the attack.
