Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes refused to answer questions about his brother Jackson’s arrest over sexual battery allegations and insisted the situation was a ‘personal thing’.
Jackson is Mahomes’ younger brother who has established his own identity as a social media influencer since his brother became a star in the NFL. Earlier this year, Jackson was arrested after he allegedly grabbed a woman by the neck and forcibly kissed her against her will three times on February 25. He denies the charges.
Jackson was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery and one count of battery after the incident at a Restaurant in Overland Park, Kansas. His two-time Super Bowl champion - and reigning NFL MVP - faced questions about the incident when he took to the podium and faced reporters at Organised Team Activities (OTAs).
However, Mahomes stuck to his guns and refused to address the outstanding allegations against Jackson. The 27-year-old said: “At the end of the day, I come here to play football and try to take care of my family, at the same time.
“So, just kind of keep it to myself and just go out there and play football when I'm in the building. It's your family, but you have to come in here and do a job. And that's what I try to do every day.”

At a brief hearing earlier this month, a Johnson County judge agreed to a request from Jackson to have his bond agreement modified so he could speak to three of the four people listed as witnesses. He was released after he posted a $100,000 bond.

Jackson reportedly shoved a waiter at the restaurant who tried to come into a room where he was with the alleged victim.
The alleged victim had reportedly told police that Jackson was a friend of her stepdaughter who had caused trouble and been asked to leave the restaurant in the past. Jackson also allegedly asked her not to tell anyone what happened and claimed he could help her business due to his ‘large social media following’.
According to the affidavit, two servers in the area did not hear her call for help but later confirmed that she told them about the assault and showed them a bruise on her neck. After finding out what happened, the alleged victim's boyfriend came to the restaurant and declared that Jackson and his friends leave.
At Tuesday's hearing, Johnson County District Judge Thomas M. Sutherland said Jackson could not speak to one of the witnesses, who had direct knowledge of the incident while he warned the other three witnesses they could not talk to the influencer about the case. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 31.
