Choosing a baby name is tough in this day and age.

With the internet at their fingertips, parents are regularly exposed to all the millions of names they should have or could have picked - but chose not to. They may also find their choice comes under fire if it's shared to certain corners of the web.

Then you've got the problem of wading through celebs, politicians, and pop culture icons to check there are none you wouldn't want your child associated with.

Game of Thrones fans, for instance, would probably shy away from the name Joffrey. But one mum has highlighted another topic parents might want to add to their checklist: medicine brands.

Posting on Facebook, the regretful parent revealed: "At 19… I named my daughter Aalyvia. I regret it so much. She's 11 now… she doesn't mind it or complain but I CANNOT stand it."

Unfortunately, commenters did little to reassure the mum as they compared the name to a medicine brand. One person wrote: "It's like a medication." Meanwhile, a second shared a photo of Allevia hayfever relief. Someone else responded with a picture of Activia yoghurt.

But others focused on the name itself - though they were still unimpressed. "At least you acknowledge and understand your sin," one claimed. Another agreed: "Listen, admitting you have a problem is the first step in recovery."

Elsewhere, a commenter replied: "If she likes it then you should keep it even though it is tragic, although I would at least try and convince her to drop the extra A at the beginning."

A second advised: "I'm an Olivia. I've taken on Liv in the past few years. It feels better for me. And here's the thing....I got to make that decision.

"Your daughter loves it and is connected to it. She's gonna be alright. If she feels differently down the road, let her know she can always alter it or change it completely."
