Manchester United are set for a busy summer transfer window and are pushing for deals to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea and Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

Kane, 29, is on United boss Erik ten Hag’s target list this summer as he is on red alert to sign a central striker at Old Trafford. United are desperate to sign an elite central striker and believe Kane’s contractual situation will mean that a deal is possible.

Mount is aware that Chelsea want to sell him this summer and he has expressed a preference for joining United in that instance. Like Kane, he is also out of contract in the summer of 2024 and as such is likely to be available at a reduced price this summer.

Mount is not currently one of the top 20 paid players at Chelsea and with multiple attacking arrivals at the West London club across the past two transfer windows, his future has come into question. He is believed to be available in the region of £55million.

Kane and Mount have been teammates for years at international level for England, where a number of United stars also play – Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw among them. As such, Kane has already spoken of his admiration for Mount.

Kane explained back in 2021: “Mason [Mount] is a fantastic player, great on the ball, great worth ethic. He wins balls back, makes tackles, it’s an underrated part of his game.

“He’s a truly special player and it’s great for him to playing in a Champions League final in a few weeks’ time. He was great again against Real Madrid (in the Champions League semi-final).”

United are in the market for a number of players this summer as they plan to sign a new starting striker, an attack-minded midfielder, goalkeeper, central defender and right-back, with up to 13 players set to leave the club this summer.

Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial, Diogo Dalot, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Fred, Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek, Anthony Elanga and Brandon Williams are among those available for transfer, with Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe leaving at the end of their contracts and both Eric Bailly and Alex Telles to be moved on after returning from loan deals.
