Love Island's Mike Boateng commends NHS staff following two-hour ambulance wait

Former Love Island contestant Mike Boateng has opened up about a recent medical nightmare he experienced, having dislocated his arm.

The reality star, 28, who starred on the sixth series of the dating show, retold his experience of his health scare as a way of issuing a stark reminder to his Instagram followers of the strain the NHS is currently under.

Taking to the social media platform yesterday, Mike said he waited two hours for an ambulance while in agonising pain.

Sharing the details of his health scare, the television personality admitted that the wait felt ‘endless’ after injuring himself.

“Having dislocated my arm, I found myself in excruciating pain for two seemingly endless hours whilst waiting for an ambulance.

“Can't help but think about those dealing with even more critical conditions, caught up in these long waiting times - a crisis brought on by the government's unwillingness to reward healthcare heroes what they truly deserve.”

The former Love Islander praised the paramedics who treated him and thanked them for their service. He said: “I'm overly grateful for Cathy and Jourdan, the amazing paramedics who came to my aid.

“Each delay, each life at stake, brings us back to the question - when will the government realise the invaluable services of individuals like Cathy and Jourdan?”

Mike left the Love Island villa on day 41 of the show, with his partner Priscilla Anyabu. During his time on the show, Mike had been coupled up with both Leanne Amaning and Sophie Piper, before becoming an item with Priscilla.

However, the pair split after being dumped from the villa.

Mike got back in touch with Leanne after the show had ended, with fans asking him on an Instagram Q&A why the pair had reunited.

One user asked: “Who approached who first from you and Leanne?” and he replied: “I asked her first. My reasoning was simple as well… life is too short and one thing I hate is having regrets, but I definitely would have regretted not letting her know I had moved past whatever happened.”

Mike continued, “We’re both black and Ghanaian in this game so I’d rather set an example given we’re in a position of influence. Turned out for the better as well so I thank God.”
