Garnacho's brother demands apology after Ten Hag challenge to Man Utd star

Alejandro Garnacho 's brother has hit back at a YouTuber who criticised the Manchester United star after the forward scored in Saturday's 2-0 win against Wolves.

Garnacho, 18, had been sidelined since the turn of the year with an ankle injury but was fit enough to make his return from the bench at the weekend against Julen Lopetegui's side - and it didn't take him long to make an impact.

Picking up from where he left off earlier in the season, Garnacho scored a last-gasp goal to seal the points for United, who are now on the cusp of qualifying for next year's Champions League.

Garnacho has made a big impression this season under Erik ten Hag and was rewarded with a new long-term contract last month. However, the talented teenager hasn't been immune from criticism from some of the club's fans and other personalities on social media.

YouTuber Rants N Bants was particularly vocal on Garnacho earlier in the season and even branded the Argentina youth international as "s***". But Garnacho's younger brother, Roberto, was quick to put the very same YouTuber on the spot after the forward's stunning late goal against Wolves.

Roberto took to social media after the match, tweeting: “Apologise as much as you disrespected, b******. @rantsnbants.”

After Garnacho's goalscoring return at the weekend, expectations will be high for the remainder of the season and the 2023/24 campaign, where the youngster will be pushing for more starts.

Speaking after Garnacho had officially put pen-to-paper on his new deal, Ten Hag made it clear that the winger's next challenge is to ensure that he establishes himself as a fixture in United's starting XI, rather than just impacting games from the bench next year.

The Dutchman said of the United academy graduate: “Garna, everyone can see it. He came in and did almost everything good, and scored a great goal that will give him belief. It’s good for us for the rest of the season, that he’s back, and can have an impact.

“One of the aspects of the biggest talent is that they are mature. First, they take responsibility then second, they are mature to bring in the skills and have belief that they can dominate opponents.

“Once again, he did it. He has had a big impact in many games: whether starting or coming on, he’s straight into the game and that’s so important for the squad.

“I’m happy we can bring in young players and, hopefully, he will progress so quickly that he can compete for a starting XI position because that is his next challenge.”
