Marks and Spencer has introduced a premium version of its Sparks customer loyalty scheme that costs £120 for selected customers.

Sparks Plus costs £120 a year, which customers have to pay upfront, and offers perks such as unlimited next-day delivery and a free hot drink each month.

Only certain Sparks Card holders will be invited to pay the £120 charge, while the premium service is trialled - and you'll be able to sign up if you receive an invitation email to "become a Sparks Plus VIP!”. reports the MEN.

While the premium service won't be for everyone, the high-street chain says the rewards you'll be able to claim come to more than £200 a year.

This includes unlimited deliveries, a free hot drink each month, and a monthly £10 voucher, as well as invites to special store events, gifts and doubled charity donations.

The Sparks scheme was first launched back in 2015, and initially rewarded shoppers with points when they spent in store or posted product reviews.

However, since then, the upmarket retailer has simplified the scheme introducing instant rewards and more tailored offers - such as 30p off drinks when you go to a M&S café.

The supermarket uses your spending habits to create relevant offers based on what you normally buy. Alongside this, some Sparks members are also surprised with "little thank yous" or freebies from M&S each day - including free food.

These treats can range from packs of Percy Pigs, to baked croissants or avocados and even Apothecary candles. You will be awarded the freebie through the Sparks app and you claim it by adding the freebie to your Sparks card and scanning it at the checkout.

This freebie is random and not everyone will get it each day so you will need to keep an eye out on your Sparks app. One of the chain's most popular offers to Sparks members is the free food shop one member could win each week.

Every week one shopper, who swipes their Sparks card or app at the till, will get their shopping for free and you are told if you are the winner at the checkout.

Again, M&S says the lucky winner is chosen at random and there is no way of knowing whether your M&S shop will grab the freebie.
