Jorginho insists Arsenal must keep their eyes on the title prize and not worry about Manchester City.

Gunners midfielder Jorginho says unless they have full focus on winning their remaining three games then they cannot even think about City slipping up.

Arsenal delivered a huge statement of intent by winning at Newcastle to apply a little bit of pressure back onto Pep Guardiola’s leaders in the title race. City face Everton next Sunday before Arsenal face Brighton later the same day but Jorginho says they can only think about themselves.

Jorginho said: “I will be honest with you, I am not watching their games - because if we don’t win here, it doesn’t matter. As long as we are winning, we are doing our part.

“At the end, we are going to see what happens. We don’t know what will happen. We know what we can do and we need to focus on that. Then they have their things to do and they have things to think. That’s it.”

Jorginho, 31, is one of Arsenal’s most experienced players and won the Champions League with Chelsea as well as helping Italy win the Euros in 2021.

Therefore his advice on what it takes to win will be crucial to Arsenal’s challenge and his arrival has added a different dynamic to the squad and Mikel Arteta’s dressing room.

Arsenal face Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Wolves in their run-in with two of the three games at home and their last remaining away fixture is at the City Ground.

Now is when the pressure is turned up and Arsenal defied any doubters by winning at Newcastle with Jorginho insisting the red-hot atmosphere was not intimidating as much as enjoyable to play in. He also says they must “embrace” it from here until the end.

Jorginho said: “This kind of atmosphere is just so beautiful, isn’t it? It’s football. It’s amazing, the passion from the people, the atmosphere has so much high intensity.

“This atmosphere has to motivate you, because if you feel a bit shy in this atmosphere, it’s hard to play a high level.

“If that motivates you then you are in the right place, and I think the team showed that the team was really motivated by this atmosphere. So, we are pleased about that.”

Arsenal’s win at Newcastle has given Arsenal boss Arteta just a glimmer of hope while Jorginho’s mentality could be important as well as being a strong back-up to Thomas Partey.

Partey has been one of Arsenal’s most important players of the season but he, like a few others, has felt the pace in recent weeks and to have strength in depth will be crucial.

Jorginho added: “I think we are two different players that can adapt for the coach in different games. I think the coach has two good choices and depending on what game, and what type of players he wants on the pitch.
