Juventus are ready to hand Mason Greenwood a career lifeline by taking him off Manchester United's hands in the summer transfer window.

Greenwood has not played for United since January 2022 and he remains away from Erik ten Hag's squad. Charges of alleged attempted rape and assault against Greenwood were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February, though United are carrying out their own investigation.

While that takes place, Greenwood has been told to stay away from the club's Carrington training ground. It has now been claimed that the Red Devils would likely be willing to allow him to leave in the summer window in order to avoid disrupting Ten Hag's squad.

According to the Sun, Juventus are now ready to offer him a fresh start away from England in Serie A. It is said the Italian giants have made it clear they are 'very interested' in signing the former England international.

Juve chiefs have already approached Greenwood's representatives about a potential move to the Allianz Stadium. They are hoping to convince United to let him leave on a long-term loan move, with hope a deal can be agreed in the summer.

Juve are set to face competition from AC Milan, Roma and Turkish clubs for Greenwood's signature. But they are said to believe that the presence of Paul Pogba, who played alongside Greenwood at Old Trafford, in Turin can help to convince Greenwood to pick them as his escape route from United.

The Red Devils are said to be wary that the events of the past 18 months will make it a struggle to attract a serious transfer fee for the striker. As a result, a long-term loan move is seen as being the most likely deal.

Greenwood still have two years to run on his current contract at Old Trafford, worth £75,000 per week. While he is training away from Carrington, United are adamant that he will only leave on loan if the interested suitor covers the striker's wages.

United's investigation remains ongoing, though the CPS have discontinued their proceedings against Greenwood.

The organisation said in a statement: "In this case a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.

"In these circumstances, we are under a duty to stop the case. We have explained our decision to all parties."

Greenwood himself has also spoken out, saying in a statement: “I am relieved that this matter is now over and I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support. There will be no further comment at this time.”
