Some benefits including Universal Credit and Child Benefit will get paid early this week.

The Coronation of King Charles III will take place this Saturday (May 6) and then there is a bank holiday on Monday (May 8).

If you’re due a payment on the bank holiday Monday, then you’ll be paid early instead.

Being paid early does mean you need to make your money last longer, as you’ll have a longer wait until your next payment.

Make sure you go through your budget to make sure you have all your bills covered.

Here is everything you need to know.

Benefit payments over King Charles III Coronation weekend

If you'd normally receive a benefit payment on Monday, May 8, then you will likely be paid on Friday, May 5.

You won't need to do anything if you're due money early - your benefits will be paid into your account as normal.

The amount you're due to be paid will also remain the same.

There is then another bank holiday at the end of this month, on Monday, May 29.

Benefit payments that would normally arrive on this day should be paid into your bank account on Friday, May 26.

It comes after payments arrived early for some people last week due to the bank holiday on May 1.

These people should have received their benefits on Friday, April 28.

When are benefits normally paid?

How often you get paid your benefit depends on what type of support you claim.

For example, you’ll get paid Universal Credit on the same day each month, while Tax Credits are typically paid every four weeks or weekly.
