A woman found with serious facial injuries has died in hospital, as cops are questioning a 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder.

Officers raced to an address in Madeley, Staffordshire, shortly before 10pm on Monday 1 May to find Suzanne Henry with serious facial injuries.

The 54-year-old was rushed to hospital where medics desperately battled to save her life but sadly she died last night, Wednesday 3 May.

Now, police are appealing to the public for any information they might have in relation to the incident.

The force initially responded to reports of a man acting suspiciously in the area before they found Suzanne, suffering the horrific injuries.

Detective Inspector Adrian Webb, from our Major Investigations Department, said: “My thoughts and condolences are with Suzanne’s family at this deeply traumatic time.

“I understand the state of shock, both in the family and the wider community, that such a tragic event has happened in the town of Madeley.

“We are solely focused on securing justice for Suzanne’s family and making sure we do everything possible to support them through this incredibly difficult time.

“I’d like to thank all of those who have already been in touch with information and for the patience which has been shown around the cordon on Newcastle Road.

“There could still be people with valuable information that haven’t came forward yet and we’d urge those people to get in touch with us as soon as they can.”

Police arrested a 20-year-old man from Newcastle-upon-Lyme on suspicion of attempted murder before further arresting them, whilst in custody, on suspicion of murder as detectives continue to question him.
