Todd Boehly has admitted he has learned a lot from his first season at Chelsea - a year on since taking over from Roman Abramovich.
Frank Lampard's side are on course for their lowest-ever Premier League points tally, having picked up just 39 from their 33 matches to date. They have also lost their last four top-flight matches and haven't won a game since beating Leicester 3-1 back in early March.
This is despite spending almost £600million on new players, with Boehly showing he is willing to invest when it comes to the transfer window. However, it hasn't worked out the way he would have hoped for so far, with both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter sacked as manager while Lampard has failed miserably as the club's interim boss.
Speaking at this year's Milken Institute Global Conference, Boehly was quizzed on the differences between football, to baseball and basketball. The 49-year-old said: "It's such a global sport and unlike in the U.S there are no unions.
"So there's a market for top players in every country in the world and each one of those markets is different. You've got the Portuguese market and the French market and the English market.

"Then of course obviously you have to build a team and your coach is the conductor of the team, so I think there's a lot that we've learned about the different markets. The global aspect of it all and, as you said, the fans are demanding."

The Chelsea supporters have voiced their frustration in recent months about the lack of progress in the side since breaking their transfer record with the arrival of Enzo Fernandez in January. But Boehly urged for patience as he insisted the club's strategy will pay off further down the line.
"You know they want to win and we get that we want to win so you know I think our view though was that this is a long-term project and you know we're committed to the long-term," he added.
"We very much believe that we're going to figure it out. We've got the best league in the world, we've got what I think is the top city in the world and we've got an unbelievable location in the top city in the world."
Despite Boehly's claims, Gary Neville has hit out at the Chelsea co-owner and criticised the work he has done after the Blues' 3-1 defeat against Arsenal on Tuesday. It was a result that left the Blues inside the bottom half and level on points with Bournemouth.
"It all comes from the top," Neville told Sky Sports. "It's been chaotic, a mess since day one. Boehly has had a nightmare and misread this league. I'm sure he'll learn quickly. What has happened this season is purely down to him.
"He needed to keep the footballing department together. He's the non-footballing department. You're the owner. You're not a player or a coach. You've got no experience in this league so stay where you are and allow the people to run the football club [who have done so] successfully over the last 10 years."
